CANNABIS PROHIBITION ENDING SOON

Memorials

Memorial Day, 2001

We dedicate this page to the men, women, and children who have given thier lives for cannabis reform.

Memorial Day, legal holiday, observed  annually on the last Monday in May in most of the United States, in honor of the  nation's armed services personnel killed in wartime. The holiday, originally called Decoration Day, is traditionally marked by parades, memorial speeches and ceremonies, and the decoration of graves with flowers and flags, hence the original name. Memorial Day was first observed on May 30, 1868, on the order of General John Alexander Logan for the purpose of decorating the graves of the American Civil War dead. It was observed on May 30 until 1971, when most states changed to a newly  established federal schedule of holiday observance. Confederate Memorial Day,  formerly a legal holiday in many southern states, is still observed on the fourth Monday in April in Alabama, the last  Monday in April in Mississippi, and April 26 in Florida and Georgia.

To nominate someone, send e-mail to us with the persons full name and a short paragraph you would offer in memorial.

BE Smith

54 year old two time Vietnam vet and Grandfather to 19 who just served 27 months for growing 87 plants under Prop 215.  The prosecution admitted that he would not have been prosecuted if he hadn't exercised his constitutional rights of free speech and appears in the press to say what he'd been doing. He told the Judge at sentencing that he walked the point in Vietnam, that he served his country then and he would do his time as a
service to those persons for whom a prison term would be a death sentence.
Judge Burrell in federal court in Sacramento found BE Smith had no remorse and sentenced him to the maximum - the Judge even gave BE an extra 7 months for being in a High Times article - the added 7 months was later overturned on appeal AFTER BE did the time.

In Memory of Laura J. Carden

Never Stop Fighting…

Or Caring…Jay R. Cavanaugh, PhD

It is not enough to say Laura Carden (LJ) was my friend. The old truck driver with the bent spine and 49’er jersey was more than a friend. She was, and is, an inspiration. In a day of phony politicians, institutional indifference, general complacency, and everyday dishonesty, LJ was a breath of fresh
air. MORE
